I first learned to create websites by writing html after reading a book way back in ummm 1999 and what my usp was back then, was the research I did on search engine optimisation (SEO) and how I applied it to all the little sites I created.

I was reminded of the basics today in a video (I’ll post the link below) and know that if you’ve got half a brain, you will take notice of the content and apply it to your own sites – immediately. The two key points Mark Widawer talks about are:

1. Make it obvious what your site is about on the page that people land on

2. Get other websites linking to yours to boost your search engine rank and appear ahead of your competitor – and the more relevant they are to your content the better

In this video he demonstrates some key essentials – some of it may go whoosh over your head if you’re a complete newbie but hopefully you will grasp the concept and get excited and apply it.

He shares simple, valuable information on how you can start stomping over the competition and you can take it away and apply immediately. And even better – this information is F*REE!

I was chatting with my friend Gary on msn today and he asked me what I was up to…

Out poured a huge long list of things I was trying to do which made me realise why I was feeling so overwhelmed d’oh! That coupled with the worry that I may forget something (and of course add 10 more things) often paralyses me and I find that I get stuck on silly details and feel incapable of making decisions in case it’s the ‘wrong’ one.

I consider Gary to be a member of my Dream Team – people around me who I can talk to who will listen, encourage, challenge and inspire me. These special people make up for my weaknesses, put me in touch with others who can help and share their knowledge and wisdom – challenging me and pushing me through my blockages (my sister Nicola is relentless with me for this – I am SO lucky to have her on my team).

So where was I? Oh yes. Gary, is an internet marketer too (or information publisher is the new buzz phrase I hear) and runs LFConline.com so he listens to my mutterings then slips into the conversation something to help and/or distract me *lol*

Today he gave me two top tips:

1. Sign up to www.rememberthemilk.com to manage tasks and not forget anything (hopefully)

2. Set up a fan page on Facebook as a great way to market virally for free.

This is better than setting up a group for lots of reasons but the major one I saw straight away is that you can contact your fan base quickly and with NO restrictions on the number of people you are messaging (unlike groups). Fantastic for publicising events, letting your INTERESTED fans know of new products and providing easy interaction with forums, comments etc. And it’s easy for your fans to invite all their friends to join too and each time someone joins it goes on their newsfeed with a link… think about it…

Visit Gary’s Facebook and become a fan of Liverpool FC News at http://tinyurl.com/4kn9t4

Anyone who is looking for ways to generate traffic to their website or blog will eventually hear about pay per click (ppc) advertising – specifically Google Adwords ppc system.

You may want more traffic to sell your stuff, sell other people’s stuff (affiliate income), gather information for new product development or build a list via a squeeze page – whatever your reasons, ppc advertising, IF DONE RIGHT, can get you near instant, quality traffic.

I’ve long followed an amazing lady called Rosalind Gardner who makes a very nice income online via…

affiliate marketing – and of course, teaching others what she has learned. Building any business online is often a lot slower than most people would like but taking your time, sharing valuable information, creating trust with your readers and ultimately your list and possible joint venture partners is priceless.

Rosalind does all this extremely well and anyone who is interested in ppc advertising should read her latest article:

How to Use the Buying Cycle to Choose PPC Campaign Keywords by Rosalind Gardner

Choose keywords to target customers in each phase of the buying cycle…

Experienced PPC (pay per click) affiliate marketers know that they need to do extensive keyword research to find keywords that target potential customers who are near the end of the buying cycle — or, ready to buy the product they are promoting.

To find out what the ‘buy’ keywords are, let’s look at a real example of the buying cycle in action.
